Classical Guitar Virtual Showcase! Donate and help fund music education!

GSI Foundation, Cordoba Guitars and Lead Guitar would like to invite you to the Classical Guitar Virtual Showcase – the first online concert of the Lead Guitar students from five different states, guitar players from around the world, and three of the world’s best guitarists: Sergio Vallín, Alex De Grassi and Sérgio Assad!

Click here to join the LIVE YouTube broadcast, April 25, 12PM CST

Sergio Vallín is the lead guitarist of the Mexican band, Maná, one of the most influential Latin American rock bands in the world today. In addition to playing the guitar, Vallín is also a composer, producer and arranger. Alex De Grassi is a brilliant acoustic guitarist whose playing was described as “flawless” by The Wall Street Journal. Billboard hails his “…intricate finger-picking technique with an uncanny gift for melodic invention.” De Grassi has been performing and recording music worldwide for over 30 years, which has become a classic of the genre.Sérgio Assad and his brother, Odair, play together in Duo Assad – most likely the best classical guitar duo in history! Together with his brother, he received a Latin Grammy award for the best tango album. Sérgio Assad is also one of the best living classical guitar composers in the world. To make the Classical Guitar Virtual Showcase possible during these difficult times, the GSI Foundation has donated over 50 Cordoba C-3 guitars to children in the Chicago area. These children had been home for several weeks without an instrument to practice on during the school shutdown. Our mission is to provide music education in public schools which need help to fund their music programs. We believe that every child deserves to experience playing music growing up. Nowadays, music education is especially at risk, since many schools operate remotely and the economy is very unstable. Our programs have adapted quickly and operate fully online, but they rely on the funding from the GSI Foundation. Any donation will be greatly appreciated. Help us to keep music alive. Here is how:

We raise funds by selling guitars that are donated to the GSI Foundation. If you wish to donate a guitar, please contact us! We’ll assist you with shipping. The guitar will be sold through GSI and all proceeds will go directly to our foundation. Of course, you’ll also get a tax-deductible donation letter.

Would you like to contribute but don’t have a guitar you wish to donate at the moment? We also accept online donations through PayPal or simple traditional checks. Every amount matters. Don’t forget to check our website regularly for updates from the music programs supported by the GSI Foundation.
